Since 1960 the presence of empty space between parts of a sculpture has been significant in Dries’s work. “in between both” shows the interior space of two pieces that perfectly fit into one another. The two pieces are perfectly related and balanced. The disrupted relationship between citizen and society is meaningful in a prison context. The sculpture is placed at the prison’s entrance.
