meditative space self-being
1974 — Middelheimmuseum, Antwerp
Jan Dries designs a new piece of art for the “Belgian Sculpture at the Middelheim Museum” exhibition. For the first time in Belgian history an artist intervenes artistically in the museum’s terrain. The central spot is experienced as a high point on one side and a low point on the other. At the same time it is as high as the art piece’s surroundings. In the central spot all contradictions convene as one self. The piece is established by the mere removal of grass and earth.
